Privacy policy

Protecting your personal data is particularly important to us. We therefore process your data exclusively on the basis of statutory provisions (General Data Protection Regulation [GDPR], German Telecommunications Law [TKG] 2003). This privacy policy informs you about the most important aspects of how data is processed on our website.

Contact with us
If you contact us by e-mail, we will save the data you provide for six months for the purpose of processing your inquiry and for any subsequent queries. We will not pass on this data without your consent. If an inquiry results in a contractual relationship, the data that is necessary and required for fulfilling this contractual relationship (contact details) will be collected and saved on the basis of statutory authorisations.

Server log files
This website and its associated provider automatically collects information as the website is being used in the context of what are called server log files. This includes, in particular:

  • Your IP address or host name
  • The browser you are using
  • How long you stayed on the website as well as the date and time
  • Which website pages you called up
  • Your language settings and operating system
  • The “leaving page” (on which URL you left the website)
  • Your ISP (Internet Service Provider)

The information that is collected is not used for person-related processing, nor is it linked to any personal data.

The website operator reserves the right to evaluate or review this data if it should become aware of any illegal activities.

Use of cookies
Our website uses what are called cookies. These are small text files that are stored on your device with the help of your browser. They do not cause any damage. We use cookies to make our offering more user-friendly. Some cookies remain stored on your device until you delete them. They enable us to recognise your browser the next time you visit. If you do not want this, you can configure your browser so that it informs you when cookies are set, and you can allow this on a case-by-case basis. Deactivating cookies may restrict the functionality of our website.

How can I configure cookie settings for my browser?
Each browser determines how it manages cookie settings. This is described in the help menu of every browser and explains how you can change your cookie settings.

This information is available for the relevant browsers by using the following links:
Internet Explorer, Safari, Chrome, Firefox and Opera

Google Analytics privacy policy
Our website uses the analysis tracking tool Google Analytics (GA) from the American company Google Inc. For European countries, Google Ireland Limited (Gordon House, Barrow Street Dublin 4, Ireland) is responsible for all Google services. Google Analytics collects data relating to your actions on our website. If you click on a link, for example, this action is stored in a cookie and sent to Google Analytics. With the report that we receive from Google Analytics, we can better tailor our website and service to your needs. The following information discusses the tracking tool in more detail. In particular, it informs you which data is stored and how you can prevent that from happening.

What is Google Analytics?
Google Analytics is a tracking tool that is used for analysing the data traffic on our website. To use Google Analytics, a tracking code is built into our website’s code. When you visit our website, this code records the various actions that you perform on our website. As soon as you leave our website, this data is sent to the Google Analytics servers where it is stored.

Which data is stored by Google Analytics?
Google Analytics uses a tracking code to create a random, unique ID that is linked to your browser cookie. This is how Google Analytics recognises you as a new user. The next time you visit our website, you will be recognised as a “returning” user. All data that is collected is stored together with this user ID. This enables pseudonymised user profiles to be evaluated.

Your interactions on our website are measured by identifiers such as cookies and app instance IDs. Interactions refer to all types of actions that you perform on our website. If you also use other Google systems (such as a Google account), data that is generated by using Google Analytics can be linked with third-party cookies. Google does not pass on any Google Analytics data unless we have approved this as the website operator. Some exceptions to this may occur if this is required by law.

For how long is the data stored and where is it stored?
Google has distributed its servers across the whole world. Most of them are located in America and your data is usually stored on American servers as a result. You can see exactly where the Google data centres are located here: https://www.google.com/about/datacenters/locations/?hl=en

Your data is distributed across different physical data carriers. This has the advantage that the data can be retrieved more quickly and is better protected from manipulation. Appropriate emergency programs for your data are in place in each Google data centre. For example, if the hardware at Google fails or if natural disasters bring the servers to a standstill, the risk of loss of service at Google remains low.

By default, the retention period at Google Analytics for your user data is set to 26 months. Your user data will then be deleted. However, we can also choose our own retention period for user data. There are five different variants to choose from:

  • Deletion after 14 months
  • Deletion after 26 months
  • Deletion after 38 months
  • Deletion after 50 months
  • No automatic deletion

Once the defined period has expired, the data is deleted once a month. This retention period applies to your data that is linked to cookies, your user ID and advertising IDs (such as DoubleClick cookies). Report results are based on aggregated data and are saved independently of user data. Aggregated data involves individual data being amalgamated into a larger unit.

How can I delete my data or prevent it from being saved?

The European Union’s data privacy law gives you the right to obtain information about your data and to update it, delete it, or to restrict it. You can prevent Google Analytics from using your data by using the browser add-on to deactivate Google Analytics JavaScript (ga.js, analytics.js, dc.js). You can download and install the browser add-on from https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en. Please note that this add-on only deactivates the collection of data by Google Analytics.

Google Web Fonts (local hosting)
This website uses Google Web Fonts to ensure that font types are displayed uniformly. Google Fonts are installed locally. In doing so, no connection is made to Google’s servers.

For more information about Google web fonts, see https://developers.google.com/fonts/faq and Google’s privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=en.

Font Awesome (local hosting)
This website uses Font Awesome to display fonts and icons uniformly. It is provided by Fonticons, Inc., 6 Porter Road Apartment 3R, Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA.

When a website is accessed, your browser loads the required fonts in your browser cache so that texts, font types and icons can be displayed correctly. For this purpose, the browser you are using has to connect to Font Awesome’s servers. This informs Font Awesome that this website was called up from your IP address. Font Awesome is used on the basis of Article 6 Paragraph 1 (f) GDPR. We have a legitimate interest in displaying fonts uniformly on our website. If a corresponding request is required, the data is processed exclusively on the basis of Art. 6 Par. 1 (a) GDPR and Section 25 Par. 1 TTDSG [New German Telecommunications-Telemedia Data Protection Act] if the consent comprises the storage of cookies or access to information on the user’s end device (e.g. device fingerprinting) within the meaning of the TTDSG. This consent can be revoked at any time.

If your browser does not support Font Awesome, a standard font from your computer is used.

For more information about Font Awesome and Font Awesome’s privacy policy, see: https://fontawesome.com/privacy.

Google Maps
Our website uses functions from the web map service “Google Maps”.
The service provider of this function is: Google Ireland Limited Gordon House, Barrow Street Dublin 4. Ireland. Tel: +353 1 543 1000

When you use Google Maps, your IP address has to be saved and processed. Google usually sends this data to a server in the USA where it is saved. The data is processed by a service provider (named above), the operator of this home page does not have any influence over the data being sent.

The data is processed on the basis of the statutory provisions of Section 96 Par. 3 TKG and of Art 6 Par. (f) (Legitimate Interest) of the GDPR. Using Google Maps makes it easier to find the locations that we provide on our website.

For more information about how user data is handled by the service provider “Google”, see their privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=en.

Although Google processes the data in the USA, it is still subject to the EU-US Privacy Shield, https://www.privacyshield.gov/EU-US-Framework.

YouTube privacy policy
We have integrated YouTube videos into our website. This enables us to present interesting videos to you directly on our website. YouTube is a video portal that has been a subsidiary of Google since 2006. The video portal is operated by YouTube, LLC, 901 Cherry Ave., San Bruno, CA 94066, USA. If you call up a page on our website that has an embedded YouTube video, your browser connects automatically to YouTube’s or Google’s servers. This transfers a variety of data (depending on your settings). Google Ireland Limited (Gordon House, Barrow Street Dublin 4, Ireland) is responsible for all data processing in European countries.

The following information explains in more detail which data is processed, why we have incorporated YouTube videos, and how you can manage or delete your data.

What is YouTube?
Users can view, rate, comment and upload their own videos free of charge on YouTube. In recent years, YouTube has become one of the most important social media channels in the world. YouTube provides a code section that we have integrated so we can display videos on our website.

Why do we use YouTube videos on our website?
YouTube is the video platform with the most visitors and the best content. We strive to offer you the best-possible user experience on our website and naturally, interesting videos are an important part of this. Our embedded videos enable us to provide you with additional useful content in addition to our texts and images. Our website can also be found more easily in the Google search engine due to these embedded videos. Even if we activate advertisements via Google Ads, the data that is collected means that Google can display these advertisements only to those people who are interested in our offering.

Which data is saved by YouTube?
As soon as you visit one of our pages with an embedded YouTube video, YouTube sets at least one cookie that stores your IP address and our URL. If you have signed in to your YouTube account, YouTube can usually assign interactions on our website to your account by using cookies. This includes data such as the session duration, bounce rate and approximate location, as well as technical information such as your browser type, screen resolution or your internet provider. Additional data could be your contact details, any ratings, if you share content on social media or add the video to your favourites on YouTube.

If you have not signed in to a Google account or a YouTube account, Google stores data with a unique ID that is linked to your device, browser or app. This ensures that your preferred language setting is retained, for example. However, it is not possible to save a large amount of interaction data because fewer cookies are set.

For how long is the data stored and where is it stored?
The data that YouTube receives from you and processes is stored on Google’s servers. Most of these servers are located in America. You can see exactly where Google’s data centres are located at https://www.google.com/about/datacenters/inside/locations/?hl=en. Your data is distributed across the servers. This makes it easier to retrieve the data and means that it is better protected from manipulation.

Google stores the data that is collected for varying lengths of time. You can delete some data at any time; other data is automatically deleted after a limited time, while other data is saved by Google for a longer period. Some data (such as items from “My Activity”, photos or documents and products) that are saved in your Google account will remain saved there until you delete them. Even if you have not signed in to a Google account, you can delete some data that is linked to your device, browser or app.

Right to information
You have the right to information, correction, deletion, restriction, data portability, the right of withdrawal and the right to object. If you believe that the processing of your data violates data protection laws or that your data protection rights have been otherwise infringed, you can make a complaint to the supervisory authority. In Austria this is the Data Protection Authority.
